American history shows that in the 17th and 18th centuries, when this country's founders were firmly rooted in biblical principles, parents were the primary teachers of their children. Education was not the responsibility of the government. Moral values, reading, writing, computation skills, and eventually some sort of vocational training were the main emphases in the early American homeschools.
